I treated Sejarah as a story, not something i was forced to learn. And besides, there are a bunch of important lessons you can gain from learning about your predecessors. After SPM nanti, you'll realize:
"Okay jugak eh, at least aku tahu lah sikit sikit about sejarah negara aku".
But enough of that rant. Let's talk strategies.
Okay so the way you do Kertas 1, or any other objective paper for that matter is this:
1) Get at least 5 sets of questions
2) Do them, but write the answers on another piece of paper
3)Record your score
4)Repeat the paper 1 or 2 weeks later.
5 sets equals 200 objective questions. If you master 200 questions, then what are the chances of at least 30 being in the actual exam? I only did this when we basically finished the syllabus though. This is so that the sets i did had all of the chapters mixed in. I also used the trial papers from other states. Now i find that this method works because of 2 reasons, the first one being my statement above.
It also works because it keeps you in Sejarah-Paper 1-Exam-Answering Mode. Bile kite lama dah tak buat exam, nanti on the real day kite kene deal dengan rasa nervous pulak. Our brains aren't used to the exam feel. When we constantly repeat the objective papers ourselves, our brains say "meh, you've been through this before". Remember not to overwork yourself. Kalau lepas satu set nak rehat, rehatlah. You just finished self-assigned work. That's not something everyone can do y'know!
I studied for Kertas 2 using my main way of studying i mentioned in Part I of my guide, which is the YouTuber method. I teach whatever i'm studied as if i already know it. It worked great for me, because i could joke around, and learn every bab more casually.
Acronyms are always useful for remembering things. For example in Bab 6, Form 5, i used to remember Reaksi Luar Negara semua tu by making some people villans, and others the heroes. I even had this whole story of how after we called in the Komanwel (i refer to them as the Avengers) to counter Indonesia's attacks on our kapal nelayan xD. Mind Maps really helped me too. Sometimes i make simple ones like this:

Untuk kertas 3, kene pandai cari bahan lah. Sekarang ade pulak cara jawab Rubrik ni, which in my opinion is much more easier and saves time (and your hands). For that, please refer to your teacher. I don't wanna give ya the wrong info. Time aku spm dulu, semua org bawak macam macam buku. This will clutter your desk, and minimize your writing (salin-ing) space. I didn't even use the textbook during my SPM. Bukan nak tunjuk ke ape. Just make sure you don't over do it on the bahan.
Actually kan a few weeks before the exam, nanti ade diorang jual buku khas (emphasis on the Ø®), untuk the topic for your Kertas 3 in SPM, so if you can buy that. And that's all for Sejarah folks!

PI is a bit like Sejarah, in the sense that there's a lot to read. The actual exams however, will be divided into other topics. They are:
- Adab
- Sirah
- Hadis
- Ibadat
- Aqidah
- Tamadun Islam
- Tilawah Al-Quran
Might look a bit daunting at first, but trust me it's really not that bad.
Kertas 1 will test you on Ibadat, Aqidah, Tamadun Islam, Tokoh-Tokoh, and Adab.

Bahagian A ade 40 soalan, setengah objektif, setengah isi tempat kosong. The rest will be subjective and most likely be about the Tamadun Islam and Tokoh-Tokoh.
Kertas 2 will be all subjective, mainly focusing on Tilawah Al-Quran (fahaman, hafazan), Sirah, and Hadis. But there is also Tajwid and Tulisan Jawi. One thing I should say first though, is that ever since 2015, PI has more KBAT questions now. These can really save you, because of how simple your answers can be.
PI also uses the "rubrik" or "hollistic" method of answering the KBAT questions, so please refer to your teacher for that. I highly recommend you learn to answer them using the aforementioned ways, because it'll save ya a lot of time.
Speaking of time, you're gonna need to write extra fast for Paper 2, because I always find myself (and other classmates) struggling to finish all the questions before the time limit.
Okay, so how do you study all this? First, you should set good intentions for studying PI. Jangan anggap nak study semata-mata untuk SPM saje, namun belajar lah PI ni untuk mendapat ilmu tentang agama kita, yang akan memberi manfaat sekarang dan pada masa depan. Tu dia, macam program t.v Al-Hijrah pulak dah.
Let's start with Tilawah Al-Quran. You should practice the Surah(s) at home. One effective way is to recite your hafazan after you pray Zohor or Asr. I find that it also helps to read the meaning of the verses. Repetition is key. It goes in tandem with consistency as well. How bout the tajwid? To be honest with you, I always seem to forget most of them after the exam. My bad for not being consistent. Memang banyak, but it's actually ok, if you take your time to learn em. I never did memorize all of the mad (mad asli, mad tamkin). Instead I focused on the ones that were expected to come out. Macam yang dah keluar last year most likely tak keluar lagi lah.
One big problem for me was Jawi. I was only exposed to Jawi in Form 3, because I had only started schooling in Malaysia that year. Despite that, I managed to learn to write Jawi from this series of YouTube videos I followed. I wrote down my own notes, revised a bit, and presto!
As for Tamadun Islam, most of these are very similar to what you learned in the chapters about Islam in Sejarah Form 4. I didn't memorize everything, but I focused on the chapters that had a high probability of coming out. But make sure you read everything at least once. I mean, Kerajaan Abbasiyah alone has many chapters. To me, yang penting is you know the famous Khalifah, Sumbangan, and Faktor-Faktor kegemilangan/keruntuhan.
Aqidah and Ibadat, you just have to read and understand most of the definitions. Maksud Haji, maksud sembilihan, maksud gadaian, maksud talak, etc. Ni kena biasa ulang ulang, so it sticks to your head. Most of these ade:
Oh yeah! You should also know the hukum of some things. Sama ada haram, halal, atau harus. These questions will be 90% in Kertas 1, but I don't know if they'll change the format or something for your year. So, you don't have to hafal word-for-word for everything. Just ingat the key words/phrases, then you can build the rest of the sentence yourself. Contohnya, for maksud Haji:
What did you notice about that definition? For me, I see mengunjungi as a key word, then ade tiga kali "something" tertentu. Untuk definisi Umrah lebih kurang sama jugak.
Untuk Umrah, just replace the word "mengunjungi", with "menziarahi", and then instead of semua tertentu, masa tu jadi pada bila-bila masa. There's plenty of more examples I could give. like the keyword for Gadaian is cagaran. Just know that there are shortcuts to learning these Aqidah and Ibadat chapters, like the keywords and using mnemonics. My favorite one that my Ustazah taught us is this:
No Way To Speak Chinese Tamil.
which is actually a mnemonic for Rukun Haji.
Niat Wukuf Tawaf Sae Cukur Tertib
FINALLY, we reach Hadis and Sirah. Okay Hadis ni boleh lah faham dan belajar isi kandungan dia. There is however, a tricky question that can come out. They can ask you..."apakah maksud perkataan ini?" from the hadith...in Arabic!
The killer to studying PI is boredom, so make sure you study using stimulating ways. You can go for the old fashion reading and memorizing method, But if you're like me, trying to reading and memorize an chapter, will eventually bring me to my bed. I always do my usual YouTube tutorial way of learning. Overall, Pendidikan Islam is a text-based subject. So one of the most effective ways to make it visual. Mind Maps, pictures, drawings, heck just making your notes more colourful using sharpies would help a ton!

They can also do this with your Tilawah Al-Quran. It's random really, but I think the best way is to ask your teacher on what words do they usually test you on, and highlight them in your book. Yang lain semua straightforward lah. The pattern is usually:
- Question about the hadith dari segi maksud satu perkataan/phrase/definisi
- Question about faktor/cara/pengajaran
- KBAT Question
Kalau pasal tokoh-tokoh Islam tu macam Imam Malik, atau Imam Al-Ghazhali, I put them all side by side on one paper. This helps immensely. Buat table, then letak lah empat Imam mazhab on the top, then on the side letak nama sebenar, sumbangan, pendidikan, etc.
